The Action Points Podcast! Episode 119 – Have A Little Faith

In this episode:

We chat about the representation of faith in games and other media, which is code for “Evan gives a lecture on the representation of faith in Mother 3”. We all knew this would happen. In other happenings, Dan gives us a rundown of Daredevil Season 2 on Netflix, I get nostalgic with Afterlife with Archie, Jackson and I take a look at Kaijumax, Jackson was reading Scott Pilgrim and Evan has been super excited that Kat has been playing Mother 3.

  1. I very much agree with Dandevil. They were pushing their B plot in all the promos, and everyone wanted B so much, so it was weird when you found out it was not the A plot. I think it would have been much more palatable, if they started with A and then flowed into B, but understand why they didn’t. There was also a lot of thematic similarities between the two, that weren’t really connected, and the final resolution of the connecting theme was kind of stolen from the character in the end. The stairwell scene is great, and would have loved to see much more of that in the finale and dispersed throughout. It seems once we got deep into A, it was just plain old fight scenes, shot plainly. We lost the visual flair, especially in the finale. My ranking: Jessica Jones > the first few episode of Daredevil S2 > Angel S5 > Daredevil S1 :D
