In this episode:
We discuss the controversy generated by the art of Dragon’s Crown and the hyper-sexualization of video game and comic book art. We even go a little bit into the weirdness that is moe. Besides the sexy times, Evan and I also talk a bit about reading Yotsuba& and how hot Asagi is. (The other manga by Yoshitoshi Abe that I mentioned is Ryushika Ryushika.) I also review a trio of books that I read while traveling to and from Townsville: Get Jiro! by Anthony Bourdain, Joel Rose and Langdon Foss; Manhattan Projects Volume 2 by Jonathan Hickman, Nick Pitarra and Jordie Bellaire (which I’ve also written about here); and Mind MGMT by Matt Kindt. Finally we also talk a little bit about some adaptions adaptations we are excited about and how different adaptations have been handled in terms of faithfulness and putting a personal spin on an adaptation.
P.S. The article about Tomb Raider that I mention in this episode is actually on Hell Mode here.
